Mika grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada in a volleyball family. She received a full, four year scholarship to Mississippi Valley State University where she graduated with a major in biology and minors in chemistry and sociology. Even though she was recruited as a setter. During her collegiate career she got experience as an outside, right-side hitter. By her senior year she was a defensive specialist.

 

Her coaching career consists of one season with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies as an assistant coach and off season in Minot State University Beavers. While in Minot she also coached the 14u club team.
