Hung Nguyen

Coach Hung Nguyen is originally from Vietnam. He came to the United States and settled in
Winter Haven, Florida at an early age of 9 right before the fall of Saigon to the communist in
1975. Hung attended Winter Haven High School and graduated from the University of Central
Florida (UCF) with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He has been working for NASA at the Kennedy
Space Center for 28 years and is currently, the Ground System Operations and Development
System Engineering and Integration manager, building and processing the next generation of
launch vehicle and spacecraft and ground system infrastructures for the next generation of
space explorations.


Hung loves and has a passion for team sports. He played Basketball, Tennis, Football and
Volleyball in middle and high school. Hung played and won the 6A Tennis High School district
championship in singles/doubles and while in college, he played and coached both
intramural/club indoor/beach volleyball and taught the game of tennis to anyone who desire to
learn the sport. He played setter and outside hitter and coached a Vietnamese Student and
American Association (VASA) men’s club volleyball team at UCF and participated in the North
America Vietnamese summer Olympic games at the University of Texas Arlington, where his
team won “Gold”. His VASA team also won multiple UCF intramural volleyball
leagues/tournaments during his tenure.


Hung has a strong passion for volleyball and renewed this passion for coaching when his two
daughters, Catlinh and Catthi fell in love with the sport. Hung has coached the girls’ club
volleyball for 5 years at local clubs. While coaching at MBS in 2015-2017, he coached the U13
and U14 National teams and achieved several first-place finishes and improved their Florida
Regional ranking from 61st to 12th. He assisted coach Ricardo at BRAVO academy and coached
their U14 National team to multiple tournament 1 st place wins including a 5 th place finish at AAU
Regional and won a free entry into the 2017 AAU National where the team finished 3 rd place. In
2017-2019 Hung coached at OTVA head coach for girls 15U and assisting 14U work with both
regional and USAV level players. He is proud that a 100% of the girls he coached made their
middle school and high school teams. Hung also participated in both Florida HP and Nation HP
tryouts as the HP court coach.
This is Hung’s 1 st year at Game Point Volleyball Club, he’s very passionate about coaching and
he’s excited to get back into the gym to help players learn the game of Volleyball and impart
life’s lessons as well as sharing the knowledge of the game.
